The Stranger in Her Back Seat Was Only the Beginning
The phone vibrated in Sienna’s hand. The screen showed a chilling message:
“IF SHE SURVIVES, HER PARTNER IS NEXT.”
She looked toward the masked man, but he was disappearing into an alley. Beneath the message was a map pin and a countdown: 09:47.
Sienna called her partner, Detective Marcus Reed. No answer. His tracker had gone dark.
The pin led to an abandoned rail tunnel. Sienna arrived with ninety seconds left. Marcus’s car waited outside, its door open. Inside, she found his badge, his phone and two restraints arranged on a metal chair.

Then the masked attacker stepped from the darkness.
He slammed her into the wall, but Sienna trapped his arm, struck his ribs and threw him over the chair. Before he could recover, she locked his wrist to a pipe.
A voice behind her said, “Sienna, wait.”
Marcus entered the red emergency light with his hands raised. Relief crossed her face—until the attacker’s phone vibrated again.
A new message appeared:
“YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO FINISH THIS YOURSELF, DETECTIVE REED.”

Sienna slowly turned toward her partner.
Marcus stopped pretending. For two years, he had sold undercover agents’ identities to the organization they were hunting. Sienna had discovered the pattern, so he staged the attack and planted the first message to lure her somewhere without cameras. The masked man was never meant to leave alive either.
Marcus lunged. Sienna sidestepped, drove him to the ground and snapped the second restraint around his wrists.
Police sirens echoed through the tunnel. Before entering, she had activated the emergency beacon hidden in her necklace.

As officers pulled Marcus away, the masked attacker laughed.
“You still don’t understand,” he whispered. “Reed wasn’t giving the orders.”
Marcus’s phone lit up one final time:
“PHASE TWO BEGINS TONIGHT.”
Sienna stared at the screen. She had exposed the traitor beside her—but the person controlling them both was already making the next move.
