The elevator doors groaned open just wide enough for Sienna to force herself through. Behind her, twisted metal screamed as the damaged cabin hung above an empty shaft. The red indicator over the doors displayed a number she had never seen on the building directory: –3.

Then she found the card.
Her photograph had been taken outside her apartment that morning. Beneath it were four words: DELIVER HER ALIVE.
Sienna entered the dark corridor. There were no offices, exit signs or security cameras—only a row of reinforced doors and the low hum of machinery beneath the floor. The access card opened the first door before she even touched the scanner.
Someone had expected her.
Inside was a hidden command center covered with live surveillance feeds. Every screen showed a different part of her life: her apartment, her car, the FBI field office and the restaurant where she had eaten lunch. One screen showed her partner, Mason, tied to a chair with blood running from his forehead.
A distorted voice filled the room.
“Place your hand on the scanner, Agent Williams, and he lives.”
A glass terminal illuminated beside her. Sienna understood immediately. The men in the elevator had never intended to kill her. Her fingerprints, eyes and heartbeat were the final keys to an encrypted FBI archive containing the identities of hundreds of undercover agents.
She slowly approached the scanner and raised her hand.

At the last second, she drove the stolen access card into the terminal’s exposed electrical slot. Sparks exploded across the room. The lights died, the security doors unlocked and two guards rushed through the darkness.
Sienna met them head-on.
Seconds later, both men were down. She smashed through the final door and found Mason in the chair. She cut his restraints—but instead of running, he quietly stepped away from her.
Then he raised a gun.
“I’m sorry, Sienna,” he whispered. “They promised they would erase my name.”
She had been betrayed by the one person she trusted most.
Before Mason could pull the trigger, Sienna saw his reflection in the dark glass. She spun, knocked the weapon aside and pinned him against the terminal.
“Who is behind this?”
Terrified, Mason pointed toward another elevator hidden behind the monitors.
Its indicator displayed only one destination:
–4.

As the doors opened, a familiar man stepped from the darkness—a man Sienna had watched die three years earlier.
Her former FBI director smiled.
“Welcome home, Agent Williams.”
Only then did Sienna understand: level –3 was never the secret headquarters.
It was merely the entrance.
