Sienna slammed the first masked attacker against the concrete wall as the second disappeared through the garage exit with the flash drive.
The woman they had attacked was shaking uncontrollably.
“My name is Claire,” she whispered. “They were going to kill me for that bag.”

Sienna opened it.
Inside were bundles of cash carrying evidence-room markings, photographs of federal witnesses and confidential documents tracking millions of dollars through shell companies. Every page pointed to the same terrifying conclusion:
The criminal network was being protected from inside the FBI.
Then Sienna found an authorization form.
At the bottom was the signature of Deputy Director Adrian Cross—the man who recruited her, trained her and saved her career more than once.
Footsteps echoed behind her.
Cross emerged from the darkness.
“Put the bag down, Sienna.”
She slowly stood.
“You sent me the urgent call.”
Cross did not deny it.
He calmly explained that the robbery had been staged. The attackers were hired to steal the flash drive, but Sienna had been deliberately directed into their path.
Cross knew she would intervene.
He had spent years teaching her always to run toward danger. Tonight, that instinct had made her predictable.

“You were never supposed to open the bag,” he said.
Sienna reached for her badge—and felt an empty clip.
Claire was gone.
During the fight, the frightened woman had moved close enough to steal Sienna’s credentials and car keys. She had never been a victim. She was the network’s financial courier.
Cross’s phone rang.
A woman’s calm voice came through the speaker.
“We have the drive and Williams’ access badge.”
“Good,” Cross replied. “Lock her out of the system.”
He drew his gun.
By sunrise, Cross explained, the official evidence would show that Sienna organized the robbery, assaulted federal agents and stole files containing protected witness identities.
Every police officer approaching the garage would believe she was the criminal.
Sienna watched the red and blue lights move closer.
Then she kicked the fallen bag into Cross’s arm, struck the emergency-light switch and plunged the garage into darkness. His first shot hit concrete.
By the time the lights returned, she was gone.
Outside, Sienna checked her phone.
Her FBI access had already been terminated. A nationwide alert displayed her photograph beside three words:
ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

Security footage showed Claire entering headquarters with Sienna’s badge. She carried the stolen flash drive directly into a restricted elevator.
Over the police radio, Cross’s voice ordered every available agent to find Sienna.
Then an unknown number sent her a photograph.
It showed the escaped masked thief holding the real flash drive. The device Claire had delivered was a duplicate.
Beneath the photograph was one message:
“You stopped the wrong man. Cross is only following orders. If you want the name of the person above him, come alone.”
A location appeared on the screen.
It was the abandoned building where Sienna’s first FBI partner had died.
